1795 British Conder Token • Man in prison gnawing on a bone/Lion dismayed
Middlesex, Spence's DH 852a (RR). Halfpenny.

Thomas Spence was a radical philosopher, speaker, author and publisher in London.
He produced tokens, mostly satirical, to extoll the virtues of his philosophy and
generally poke fun at royalty, and the landed gentry.  Spence was also a coin dealer.

I certainly never expected to own such a nice example of this PL PQ Spence issue,
obviously struck for a collector.

I have collected U.S coins for many years, and then Civil War Tokens, but am now actively building a collection of Conder Tokens,
the coins that made the Industrial Revolution a whopping success. : )
