Conder Token• Middlesex, Skidmore's 520 • Padocked Lips/Chained Eating Utensils

This is a halfpenny token issued by Peter Skidmore. It was likely struck in Birmingham, per R.C. Bell.
Its engraver's initials appear to have been R.I. Or the R I could signify something different I suppose.
I find no reference to a die sinker with those initials.

Graded AU-UNC by dealer, I negotiated as discount as I see it as AU+;
that's with my 'commercial grading' hat on.

Edge reads: SKIDMORE HOLBORN LONDON -o -o -o
Struck well in collar which blundered planchet's pre lettering.
As a result, only LONDON is now completely legible.

This issue is rated Scarce in Dalton & Hamer. Dealer rates it Rare.

I have collected U.S coins for many years, and then Civil War Tokens, but am now actively building a collection of Conder Tokens,
the coins that made the Industrial Revolution a whopping success. : )
