  • OK first I think a auction site here would be GREAT!!!
I am using eBay and I am a buyer, what I find is if you live in Canada some of the shipping charges are NUT'S
Paying $23.00 for a singel slabbed coin is just unbelievable. I do contact the seller and a lot tell me that is not the shipping price at all, eBay
is the one who puts the shipping price in. So then I get a proper price and all is well.
But many times it is the shipping price, and I know it is just not so.
I have had six slabbed coins ship ed from Texas for around five dollars.
This seller told me many eBay Sellers jack up the shipping price and are in his words are 'Ripping you Canadians off"
This seller has one of the most successfully stores I have ever seen.
But many eBay sellers do Jack up the shipping to say $6.00 and when I get the package it says $1.89 or the kike.
Then there the sellers that will not ship to Canada, It drives me craze, I find just the coin I want at a good price and when I try to bid It says no way.
You can't even email the seller because if you live in Canada it blocks you.
Sorry for going om so, but a new bidding site with fair shipping prices sounds GREAT TO ME!!!

  • I guess I'll have to be the lone naysayer. I don't like FleaBay, either, but I don't think there is enough traffic here to benefit the sellers. It's one thing to end up selling an item for a lower price than expected when there have been hundreds upon hundreds of views, but in this limited venue, the seller will be at a bigger disadvantage without specifying a minimum opening bid close to their hoped-for sale price. I just don't see it being worthwhile, and that doesn't even take into consideration safeguards for both buyers and sellers.

  • Yeah, I agree with Chris.  There just aren't enough people here on a regular basis to sell other than fixed price listing.

I agree with you and considered this before I asked the question. I am aware of the low traffic and would suggest doing the listings as a BIN
or a starting price of what you want for it.

Once it is up and running Google crawls the site and will move it towards the top of Google just as Ebay does. :)
I think having auctions will actually get more traffic here.

Also if enough people are interested and sign up I will advertise and have a booth at the coin shows.

All this takes time and money
