Title: 1666 Brunswick-Wolfenbuttel Taler
Post by: regandon on March 13, 2011, 04:25:30 PM
This is a commemorative that commemorates Duke August II 87th birthday. As you can see, the long scratch's are on the slab. You will also notice that this Taler has a major DDO.

Ruler : August II ruled from 1634-1666
Minted at the Goslar mint
Engraver : Henning Schluter
The engravers mark of HS can be seen on the rev. at the bottom of the coin. At times he would also use crossed keys along with HS.

That is just cool!  Great pics, too.  The doubling is very clear on this one.

The first pic starts to load, and than it shows a red cross. But when the red cross in clicked on, the pic comes up.  :smiley-confused005: Did I load to many large pics ?

They're showing up for me.  Three pics are up, the combined and two closeups of the obverse.
