« on: October 22, 2009, 10:02:22 PM »
I just received them today and took some very quick images.........what do you think of them :HMMMMM;

Stefanie

I didn't have time to tell you what they are and the composition but they range from copper, white metal and  brass.

Rarity scales range from common, rare and RR+

I like them. My favorite is coin #1 and coin #6. Is that a flying finger bird on the second coin ?

It very well may be :Funny;

I put the wrong image.......sorry...here's the right one ;)
But, its  a weak strike and is not in a high state of preservation, it would look similar to this

Love the Hibernia.

The Slave Abolition token  would go well with my Sierra Leone collection.

Some are common, but hard to find in higher grades.
Some are rare and still more are scarce.

I think the R scale goes like this.

Common
Rare
RR
RRR
Scarce

They are very similar to the US tokens whereas not that many were minted. So even the common ones may have only several thousands or more but not in the millions like the government puts out

Keep in mind.......the Us and British tokens were not minted by the governments, they were privately minted in
times where small change was short if not altogether gone. So as an answer the public minted their own.

Rarity Scale
« Reply #6 on: October 23, 2009, 07:19:40 AM »
Rarity scale for Conder Tokens should go like this...

Common.....  more than 200 struck
Scarce........  200 or fewer struck
Rare...........  75 or fewer struck
RR..............  30 or fewer struck
RRR............  10 or fewer struck

I got these figures from Bill McKivor, noted dealer in tokens and medals.
I have collected U.S coins for many years, and then Civil War Tokens, but am now actively building a collection of Conder Tokens,
the coins that made the Industrial Revolution a whopping success. : )

Hi Larry,

I always thought that the Rarity scale
had scarce as the least amount minted.

Hmmmm. learn something new every day :)
