  • Just got back from the NY international convention.  A nice show and a lot of great coins.  Heavy in ancients, hammered, and european medals.  Cool stuff.  Spent a few hours perusing but didn't see anything that I wanted to buy and so I came home with a full walet minus the cost of a spectacular lunch...a Kentucy Rib Eye...perfectly marbled and expertly cooked, hands down theeee best steak I've ever had! $50 (the most expensive too, but well worth it.)

    went to a good cause  :Funny;

    I can't believe there were no worthy Conders.
    To bad, was looking foward to seeing some new great
    ones :)

  • There was only a small number of Conders, mostly common and/or not any in my particular areas of interest.  I have been there in years prior and knew that that would be the case.  There was one Spence bust piece I was considering but decided I didn't love it and passed.  It's not just a coin show for me though...I get to visit and catch up with an old childhood friend that lives in town.  So I have a blast the day before the show too.

  • I wish I could get to one of these shows.  It looks like I'm doomed to suffer our local shows with very little of interest as far as world coins.

  • Is it your job or the traveling that prevents you from going?

    I've got lots of free time this time of year (I'm in landscaping/grounds maintenance), but little resource to fund the trip.  Three kids and two college commitments have pretty much determined my budget in such matters. I almost got to go this year, but we opted for a short trip to the Outer Banks for the family's sake. ;)

    I do think it would be a treat to see the NY show one of these years.  Until then, I can live vicariously through the show reports and pictures of others. :)

  • I too would like to be able to get to one of these shows at some point as well. It's got two big things against it for me though. One, is that it is in NYC. I live only about an hour or two away depending on traffic but I never go to the City, and perhaps more importantly is that I never have any money to do anything.
