Before Georgia became officially annexed to the Russian Empire, they were made a protectorate in 1783 after the 'Treaty of Georgievsk'. The specimen listed is 1 Bisti dated 1787 under King: Erekle II of Georgia. The obverse shows a crude double-headed eagle with datee. The reverse shows 3 lined legend in Georgian and Farsi (Persian) script.

Daniel,
That's another very nice Georgian coin that you've got there.

I can't wait to see you upload photos of it onto http://www.uscoininfo.com/gallery/ .

Greg needs our help up on there.

Aidan.

Thanks Stefanie. I've been trying to find one of these for awhile. However, I made an error in the description. I said Georgia was annexed in 1801. This was wrong. Tsar: Pavel I, signed a proclamation in 1801 with Georgia, for them to be annexed to Russia shortly before he was assasinated. However, this was protested by a Georgian envoy in late 1801, which caused a delay in the incorporation. Over the years, different regions were annexed to Georgia as a result of Russia's battles with Persia and Turkey. Sorry for the misinformation.
