What are your thoughts on Don Willis enforcing the PCGS forum rules?

  • After 8 years on the PCGS Forums, I decided today

to just walk away. I sent a nice message to Willis and

then disconnected from the website. The Forum has

wonderful people on it, but the new rules just inhibit

all warmth, humor, wimsey or even displays of kindness.

The Forum now has a small but active body of tattlecats

that can not refrain from running to the mods over any

display of humanity. After a long time, it just became too

much watching every word, joke or statement that did

not meet the strict guidelines of the inquisition. While

it is always necessary for civility to reign, cutting off

the supply of air to breathe is not the way to nirvana.

  • Bear,
It is very good to read that you've abandoned that sinking ship over there.

There's a lot of wankers over there.

    Aidan.

  • Actually the number of wankers is really quite small, perhaps no more then

20 people. However the new rules and these 20 people have gone far in making

life less then livable on the PCGS Forum. At 72 years of age, I would rather spend

my time on an easy going and friendly Forum then spend my time trying to be something

that I am not. Some Forums are too rigid, other Forums are too argumentative , crude and

confrontational, this Forum seems just right.

    Wow Bear,

    I didn't know :(
Frankly, ever since the "enforcer" came on board and posted the forum rules I have hardly
posted over there. I am afraid of what to say or what to post.

It has become vanilla tasting over there and is not full off life like it used to be.
I am getting several pm's per day asking to start a fun thread but I declined in
    fear of retaliation.

I think Don Willis will ending up stifling many of the great posters and creative thinkers
over at CU and will become a board of the few.

  • I agree with you Bear. This forum has a nice family atmosphere. I have thought so since I first joined up. I may not say too much (at least, in comparison with other posters!) but I read many threads and it seems this forum still has fun...something missing in other forums.

  • Billy,
You'd better keep on digging up dirt on over there,& let us know here.

Collectors' Universe's reputation is going to sink like a lead balloon, just like both Coin Community & Coin Talk have.

The so-called 'moderators' are going on ego trips on those forums like on on Collectors' Universe.

I completely agree with both of you and am sorry that PCGS forum is going that way :(

  • Rok,
I think Billy is going to dig up some dirt over there & will be letting us know what is going on over there.

Stefanie should post a link to her YouTube video advertising this forum up on Collectors' Universe, then hopefully, they will start coming here.

    Aidan.

  • Actually...I logged in tonight for the first time in a long time. Almost two weeks. I simply had more important things to do, and when I did have a little bit of forum time, I decided I didn't want the drama of that forum so neglected checking it!

That's my thought, too.  Who needs the drama and attitude?  Don't get me wrong, there are a lot of good people, but it's the few others that seem to ruin the experience.
