1796 Farthing, Conder Token, Reindeer/Plow
« on: October 05, 2009, 10:22:23 AM »
This is a farthing. Iimagine a British person saying "fourth thing."
Value was 1/4 penny.
It has appreciated quite a bit in 213 years.
While this variety is rated Common, I believe its condition is quite uncommon.
It was an ebay item a couple of years back.

Edge reads:  Payable in London (remainder engrailed) <<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<

I have collected U.S coins for many years, and then Civil War Tokens, but am now actively building a collection of Conder Tokens,
the coins that made the Industrial Revolution a whopping success. : )

Larry,
Farthing traders' currency tokens with inscribed edges are not common at all. That is a very nice one you have got there.

Have you thought about joining up here; http://coinchat.org/forums/index.php as well?
