Title: 1988 $1 Silver Eagle PCGS MS-70 OGH, another price breakthrough
Post by: coinsarefun on April 06, 2013, 10:46:49 AM
Looks like American Silver Eagles are headed for price history. I wonder if this trend will continue?

Up for Auction at Great Collections.

Any guesses on the final price?

Hmmm. I saw this one yesterday in an e-mail from Great Collections. It at the time had 59 bids, and I think the price was $20,000 (plus a BP I assume). They wrote that it is in a pop 1 coin besides the OGH. I bet there are a ton of folks doing the "business strike" Registry Set. Let's check. ... (Talk amongst yourselves.) OK, wow, dangnation, 550 sets! I would've guessed a coupla hundred. The top six sets are separated by a GPA of 0.07. Given the crazy $80,000 that the 1995-W brought recently, I'm going with ... $45,001 plus BP. It's not an obvious key like the 1995-W, but conditionally it's far rarer. Just a guess!

I agree George :)
I saw in Coin World an article on the sale of the 1995-S ASE proof. I will read it tonight and get back to you.
