"Jefferson in Camouflage"

I sold this nickel for $58.50 or so on ebay two or three years ago.  I paid $5 for it 20-25 years ago.

Thanks, coinsarefun...

Allow me to show you this favorite, here, though not a U.S. coin. I think that'll be okay.

It reminds me a lot of the bright turquoise water in shallow areas in the Bahamas, near beaches and shoals, and the dark areas are mottled, colored like salt marshes and coral reefs.  I think this coin would bring back memories to anyone else who'd been there.

The reverse of this Civil War Token shows great toning with axial lighting, which simulates tipping the coin into the light so that it reflects directly.

But axial lighting will not work well for slabbed examples.

Hi all!!

Just got my new two "baby" toners!

First one is really a "baby" because I believe it's even smaller in diameter than R. Dime - but I like it a lot  Happy(*)
This is 200 Reis from Brasil 1862

(http://www.shrani.si/f/5/s7/3S4Hb3yD/brasil.jpg)

The other one is 1946 S Roosevelt Dime. While taking photo I was so focused on capturing the right colors that I completely forgot to lighten Mr. Roosevelt's face  :1cussing;  :0  :smack;
