Some Civil War Items picked up at a local coin shop
« on: October 02, 2012, 11:13:45 PM »
Well, first time outside in three weeks. Been taking high dosages of steroids medication for the ol' kidney transplant
and it sure felt great to get out:)

Below is the rest of my pickups, besides the silver round errors.

Besides picking up a nice Franklin proof toned(of course)

I found what I first thought a basic everyday common CWT, but feeling the heavy weight and being thicker than normal it
started me thinking.......Hmmmm, maybe a host coin?.....Not sure as I will look into it further.

Here is the CWT in question, maybe Rick will see this thread and toss in his opinion

And for all you Franklin Lovers......btw I'm pretty sure it will CAM
Imaged through a white piece of paper to show the toning.
Virtualy mark free, only scratches on the holder.

Speaking of holders.......check out these Half Dollar holders, they half to be 1" thick:Yikes;...........yet so very cool:)

Now...........getting to the other Civil War Item I purchased from the coin shop:D

This has got to be the coolest mantle, shelf clock I have run across in a very long time.
It dates circa 1860's. Its a Seth Thomas. I haven't done much research but its a beauty!

Check out the pice of paper that was stuck inside the clock.

This was a little write up

This was stuck inside,

Hand painted glass panel

If you look in the upper left and right you will see the weights.
