I have been looking for so long to find this commemorative in just the right condition.
But I finally found one, followed it for six days on eBay, and won it.
I have allways liked this coin and the waiting was worth it.

When you say pocket piece, does that mean I did not buy a good coin.

A pocket piece is a coin that a collector keeps in their pocket to rub in down to a very fine condition.
And then sometimes it look very shiny or this one was in very low quality condition and was "polished" which we all
know as to be very bad. Coins are not supposed to be cleaned, wiped or anything else done to them.

I thought that's what you knew you were buying. If not and it did not cost much above the price of silver you did fine.
If you bought this coin raw from Ebay and expected a coin that would grade, then I may suggest asking about his return policy
and explain that the coin has been polished.

And no better way than to show us what you bought.

The Columbian is one of my favorite commemorative designs.  Last I checked, you could get a nice graded ms63 for about $50-75, and if you can check it out in-hand first, a raw UNC can be had for less than that.
