  • Just wanted to show you guys a new piece I just added to my German commorative collection. It is a rare Bronze medal 1842 Anhalt. It commemorates 25-year celebration of Duke Leopold Friedrich reign. I have a few more commemoratives on the way.

Whats on the rev of the medal :
Sitting Dessavia with palm Tree branch on which city sign supported, surround of symbols for trade, agriculture, learning and art, over that a winged genius blessing the setting Dessavia.

Leopold IV Frederick, Duke of Anhalt (b. Dessau, 1 October 1794 - d. Dessau, 22 May 1871) was a German prince of the House of Ascania, ruler of the duchy of Anhalt-Dessau, and from 1863 the first ruler of the united duchy of Anhalt. The medal is 44mm.

  • I wonder if he used a hot curling iron to get his hair to do that?  :P
Love the reverse of this piece.
European 18th and 19th century medals rock.

  • Incredible 'regandon'. Such beautiful detailing and the luster makes it look like it was freshly minted. You captured the image perfectly. Thanks for posting this.
